I’ve had a good crack at Sea trout this year. I’m going to summarise my efforts in one post because there’s not a lot of pictures or success to talk about. Firstly we’ve obviously been hampered by the distinct lack of rain this year, just as the sea trout were starting to splash in the pools at night, it stopped raining and didn’t start up again until late August (when I’m writing this).

First night on the hunt for Sea Trout, no success at all tonight. Didn’t see or hear a fish splashing so its probably too early in the season.

Hooked and landed a small trout tonight and had something much bigger on. First signs of Sea Trout splashing tonight as well (makes a note, mid June).

There were a couple more sessions in June, zero photographs

Ok cut me some slack these things are hard to photograph at night when your hands are shaking but I got one! A god damn Sea Trout at night. The real deal and probably the start of an addiction.

Big gap since the last session (when I caught a fish) The Sea Trout are still there! but I didn’t catch one, sneaked a little trout and my old mate the chub made an appearance. Probably a day too late on this session, there had been some rain in the proceeding days but by the time I got the river it was low and slow again. River needs a bit more pace for swinging wet flies.

And my next session i had the opposite problem, river was up and chocolatey. Murky water doesn’t do anything for the confidence. I fished hard until 2am hoping for something but got nothing.
