River Lune

Had big day out on the Lune up around Tebay. What a place, what a beautiful bit of river.

Real tough going in on a low and gin clear river, bright sun early on made approaching fish impossible.

Cloud cover came over in the afternoon and I snagged an absolute corker on wispy little spider pattern fished in riffly water. When i slipped the net under under I knew it was probably fish of the year. That doesn’t stop us trying to catch a better one though does it?!

Stayed over at the New Cross Inn at Tebay, 2 beers and a pizza in the bar and I was out for the count. Satisfied bliss.

Day 2 of my road trip saw me darting over to the Eden. Not much to report, it was rock hard and I didn’t touch a single fish. Must have used up all my luck yesterday. Cheered myself up with a sneaky visit to John Norris on the way home where I spent far too much money on a Guideline waterproof bag. Its for those night time Sea Trout adventures where I need to pack a bit of extra gear for night time missions. That’s my justification anyway, and I’m sticking to it.
