Had to check my metadata to confirm that this year, I first went sniffing for trout on the 6th of April. And from the looks of these pictures, my preference is for a nice start weather wise rather than ideal fishing conditions. Its also very important to get those stereotypically “early season” shots in the bag at the start of the session, just in case you blank.
A couple of fish did oblige today, a nice out of season Grayling & skinny little brown on dry fly (which I’ve always struggled with on rivers)
The season is off to a fine start.
